25 Years of Delivering the Magic of the Season

Fantasy Flight LAX

Fantasy Flight is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization dedicated to bringing smiles to the faces of disadvantaged children in our community. Our team of passionate volunteers spend numerous "elf" hours to ensure the success of this special holiday event each year. Through various fundraisers and the generous donations of both time and money from many wonderful people, we have turned children's dreams into reality for 25 years.

The Event

On December 01, 2018, Fantasy Flight hosted by United Airlines will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary at LAX (Los Angeles International Airport). It's our annual holiday event committed to creating heartwarming memories for the military-connected children from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces based in Southern California. This year we are deeply honored to include the special families of Wounded Heroes of America. The event starts with the TSA choir singing as the children board a live flight from LAX to the ‘North Pole’ and culminates at our North Pole Village. LAXFD #80 will deliver Santa & Mrs. Claus in their firetruck which thrills our guests. The day is filled with games, crafts, a hot meal, and receiving a giant toy bag from Santa and Mrs.Claus. We are committed to giving these deserving children (ages 5-9 yrs old) a joy-filled break from any difficulties they may be facing.

Our mission is to bring warmth and holiday spirit into the lives of disadvantaged children in our community. We make the holiday season a little more special for these children and their families.

The History of the Fantasy Flight program

The Fantasy Flight program began in 1992 at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD), with the Make-A-Wish-Foundation for terminally ill children; granting the children's wishes to tour the airport and to fly on an airplane. Employees of Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) decided that Christmas would be a wonderful time to grant their wishes. The popularity of the Fantasy Flight program was adopted by additional domestic and international hubs who carry on the annual tradition.

Fantasy Flight LAX started in 1993, hosting the children from various local social service organizations. Participants included the Make-A-Wish-Foundation, Children’s Hospital, Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), and individuals from the South Bay Vocational Center.

For the past twenty-five years, LAX United Airlines employees and retirees look forward to entertaining the children on our magical flight to the "North Pole" and transforming the airport into a Winter Wonderland.

The generous donations and support from our friends in the business community enable the magic to continue with success year after year.
